Coagh History

The first church in Coagh, known as Temporary Chapel was opened in 1869.

In 1916 a stable was purchased and became known as St Mary’s. This was the permanent Church until Our new Church was built in 1992 Known as Church of our Lady.

Part of the old St Mary’s Church is still behind the Parochial House and called Our Lady’s Oratory.

The new church opened on Sunday 27th December 1992 by his Eminence Cahal B Daly Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland.

Drummullan History

The first church known in Drummullan SS Joseph and Malachy dates back to 1842 but had no church tower till 1871. This church was in use till 1958 when our current church was built on the same site. It was officially opened by Cardinal D’Alton on October 5th 1958. On the Churches silver jubilee Cardinal O’Fiaich presented a genuine relic taken from St Malachy’s skull to the church.

The Parish hall was built in May 1977.

The School was built in 1970.
